NOW THE REAL WORK BEGINS
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

For many who attended DEMOfall, held in Newport Beach, Calif.,
last week, the conference is a two-day window into the most
innovative new technology companies. Two days to see great new
products, meet entrepreneurs and network with the crowd. When
the conference is over, these good folks head home with a stack
of business cards and a to-do list of follow-up items, but for
the most part the DEMO conference is over until February when we
do it all over again.

Not so for the 65 companies that launched new products at
DEMOfall last week. For them, things are just beginning.

As Samir Arora, founder and CEO at Glam Media, reminded me,
each of these companies now must play out their fortunes in the
marketplace, and in that regard, it may be months or even years
before we can assess how well each company has done and how DEMO
may have contributed to that success.

KEITH SHAW'S END NOTES: NO DEMO HANGOVER AROUND HERE . . .
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

Anyone with us last week at DEMOFall 05 in Huntington Beach,
Calif., may now have a DEMO hangover (especially those brave
souls who were "singing" at the late-night karaoke session on
Tuesday night).

But unlike a regular hangover, where you try to avoid alcohol
over the next few days, we're more of a "hair of the dog" group,
which means between now and DEMO 2006 (in Phoenix, Feb. 6-8),
we'll continue to give you news and information regarding the
DEMO companies that have appeared at previous shows, as well as
other articles regarding any kind of innovation in the world of
technology, both in the enterprise and consumer worlds.

Starting next week, we'll be back with our normal End Notes
column that provides the latest technology trends, the "Gadget
of the Week" and other news that you may miss during the week.
We'll also continue our Weather Report, which provides snippets
of news from the world of the DEMO alumni companies.

The DEMOletter will continue to be the center of the DEMO
universe, so please check back at http://www.demo.com/demoletter
for the latest blog postings from Chris Shipley and yours truly.

If you attended the show last week, send us a note with your
thoughts about what companies you liked about the show, what you
didn't like and anything else that's on your mind. If you
haven't checked out all of the videos from the demonstrators, be
sure to click on the "Watch DEMO videos" link at
http://www.demo.com. And the DEMOFall blog
(http://blogs.demo.com) is still active, along with our posts
from the show.
