"If we are always arriving and departing, it is also true that we
are eternally anchored. One's destination is never a place but
rather a new way of looking at things."

Henry Miller

Dear Vorticians,

A very brief missive this week as I finalize plans for VORTEX
2005 (http://www.vortex.net), which begins Monday night at the
Palace Hotel in San Francisco. I'm looking forward to seeing
those Vorticians who are attending - you're going to be
participating in a terrific event.

For those of you who just couldn't get away this year, don't
worry. My colleagues Neal Weinberg and Jason Meserve will be
sharing their thoughts on the speakers, issues and sessions in
the VORTEX Blog, which you can find at
http://www.networkworld.com/weblogs/vortex/. I'll weigh in when I
can between presentations and interviews, and I'll encourage
other attendees to offer their insights.

You'll also get a heaping helping of coverage in Network World
(http://www.networkworld.com) and from other media in attendance.

Bye for now. (This is when you are supposed to say: "Break a leg,
John!")

EMC Corporation

VORTEX 2005: Setting the IT Agenda
Breakthrough to Value
Oct. 24-26 at the Palace Hotel, San Francisco

Under Joe Tucci's leadership, EMC is positioning itself beyond
its storage roots to take on an ever broader, more strategic role
in the data center of the future. With acquisitions like
Documentum, Legato, VMWare, SMARTS, and others, EMC is reaching
farther up the IT stack to help customers make better use of
resources and information. In this one-on-one interview, Tucci
discusses EMC's grand plan, its progress to date and the targets
ahead.

ABOUT VORTEX DIGEST
*********************************************************

VORTEX Digest is a weekly summary of the VORTEX Blogs written by
Executive Producer John Gallant and offers an ongoing dialogue
on matters raised at The VORTEX Conference, and within the VORTEX
Community.

VORTEX is an exclusive, invitation-only event for senior
executives that brings together all the key elements: leadership,
thought, funding, and regulatory expertise, to shape the future
of the network business and the technologies that drive it.
VORTEX shakes off the hype and helps you understand where you can
win new customers, and find new revenue in a time of dramatic and
seemingly unpredictable change.
