Cisco broadens Carrier Ethernet line, 09/24/07: Cisco this week is extending its Carrier Ethernet portfolio with a system that allows service providers to deliver fiber-based Ethernet to multi-tenant units, such as apartment buildings.

Cisco finds its not so easy working with Microsoft: Despite the recent Ballmer-Chambers love-in, Cisco is finding that in reality working with the secretive Microsoft is not so easy.

Cisco fleshes out Microsoft cooperation on unified communications, 09/19/07: Cisco's highly publicized cooperation with Microsoft on unified communications will focus on sharing presence information as well as on voice mail, Web conferencing and other areas, a Cisco executive said Tuesday.

Cisco grabs leading spectrum analysis company, 09/24/07: Another innovation has been gobbled up by the ever-vigilant Cisco. The networking behemoth is acquiring Cognio, a privately held company with one of the few coveted spectrum analysis tools in the wireless market.

Cisco offers glimpse at the risky business of acquisitions, 09/19/07: Cisco has made 16 acquisitions in the past two years (that makes 122 tech buys since 1993), and statistically speaking it’s likely anywhere from one to four of them will fail. “Approximately a quarter of our acquisitions don't work," Cisco’s senior vice president Howard Charney, told attendees of the company’s Networkers show in Australia this week.

Today at Cisco Subnet: John Chambers and other senior execs to get multimillion dollar holiday bonuses. Brad Reese reports that Cisco has hiked up the CCIE exam fee by 12%.
