Computerworld is currently seeking compelling open source case studies.

Please consider proposing a presentation for the upcoming Open Source Business Conference taking place March 17-18, 2010 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, California.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Theme: Leveraging Open Source through the Enterprise, and Beyond the Firewall

*    Open source as Cost Cutter and Innovator. Compelling examples of how open source is shaving enterprise costs without sacrificing product quality
*    Beyond Linux. Leading-edge journeys of moving beyond Linux to the next generation of open source infrastructure and applications
*    Lessons Learned. How Web 2.0/open source companies like Google use proprietary services to drive revenue
*    Legal Updates. Navigating the legal waters as open source shifts to customer-facing web services.

Recession fears have been good to open source, with tight budgets leading to increased adoption and more open source-enabled applications. Bust cost containment is just one of many attributes fueling the continued rise of open source technologies. As companies like GE, Google, and Goldman Sachs can prove, open source has gone well beyond cost-cutting to become an exceptional way to boost productivity and increase innovation. In fact, open source is quickly becoming an essential ingredient for building next generation web applications in ways not possible with proprietary software. How can you apply the lessons learned? What are the newest opportunities? And how can you navigate the ongoing legal discussions? Attend OSBC 2010, where we'll reveal the latest strategies for leveraging open source for competitive advantage.

Submissions can be made at http://presenters.computerworld.com/2010/OSBC/

The deadline for all submissions is 5 p.m. EST, Friday December 4, 2009.

Representatives of IT end-user organizations are the most preferred presenters, although we do seek a diversity of presenter organizations across the open source community.  (If you represent an IT vendor organization, we recommend that you facilitate securing an IT end-user customer to present.)  Proposals from industry analysts are also welcomed and will be strongly considered.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and speaker/presentation proposal!
