In our final update of 2010, we step back to review some of the top developments and issues in computer networking for 2010. Even though it has happened just in the last week, Skype's holiday 2010 network outage is one notable story.

Google Collects Home Wi-Fi Data from Street View
Starting in April, it became apparent that the auto fleet used by Google to map neighborhoods for its Street View service were sniffing some data from Wi-Fi home networks. That's one thing you won't see happening in 2011.

LimeWire P2P File Sharing Service Shut Down
After about four years of legal maneuvering and countless millions of files distributed over its peer to peer (P2P) network, LimeWire was finally shut down in October. Internet file sharing, of course, continues into the New Year through various other networks and technologies instead.

Stuxnet Hits Iran
Opinions vary about the true extent of damage the Stuxnet Internet worm did to the sensitive government networks in the country in Iran. Since September when the story broke, though, some folks seem nervous.

The Twitter Dress
Twitter doesn't seem to be as, er, fashionable as it was a year ago. I didn't think the wireless-networked Twitter Dress was that hot either when it made its appearance at the 2010 Grammy Awards on January 31st.
