An organization that's part of the Australian government has apparently won another USD $200 million in a recent patent claim involving Wi-Fi wireless networking. It sounds easy enough: File a few patents now, make millions later. The difficult part is finding a new idea that will be an essential element of popular commercial communications products and hasn't been patented yet. That's even harder than it sounds.

Some people became so frustrated by technical issues with wireless networking over the years that they refused to let go of their wired connections. As time goes by, though, the appeal of wireless keeps growing while its disadvantages don't seem to be nearly as much of a concern anymore.
